Masters Degree: Biology/Physiology, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona CA
Research Fellow, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda MD
Ph.D. Degree: Cardio-Respiratory Physiology, University of Nevada, Las Vegas NV
Dr. Paul R. Territo joined Indiana University's Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences on March 4, 2010 as the Associate Professor of Radiology over the newly formed Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences Core. Dr. Territo received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1991, and was also awarded a Masters of Science degree in comparative cardio-renal physiology in 1993 from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. In 1996, Dr. Territo received a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in comparative cardio-respiratory physiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and later that year was awarded an IRTA fellowship from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the NIH (Bethesda MD), where he studied the biophysics of cardiac metabolic regulation and control until 2001.
Upon completion of his professional training, Dr. Territo spent the last 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry, where he developed novel drug high-throughput serological methods and animal models for immunomodulatory agents for Inflazyme Pharmaceuticals. In 2002, he joined Eli Lilly and Company as a research scientist and group leader, where he made scientific and leadership contributions to the pre-clinical development of anti-anxiety (ReconcileTM, Prozac) and anti-seizure drugs for Lilly's companion animal neuroscience business. In 2004, Dr. Territo returned to his imaging roots at Lilly's Integrative Biology, where he established and led an imaging biomarker discovery laboratory supporting neuroscience, cardiovascular, and oncology therapeutic areas, utilizing PET, SPECT/CT and auto-radiographic techniques. In addition, he also served as scientific and cross-functional leader for imaging informatics and IT infrastructure for the imaging group, where he developed and implemented PK/PD imaging models applied to drug development. In October 2008, Dr. Territo and his lab were acquired by Covance Laboratories, where they continued to support molecular imaging for the greater pharmaceutical industry.
