Vice Chairman for Research, Department of Radiology
Director, Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences

Welcome!!! Modern medical imaging technologies are moving far beyond their traditional role of providing anatomically based diagnostic information. The information that can now be obtained with these technologies, commonly referred to as functional and molecular imaging, now plays a vital role in establishing the biological and biochemical characteristics of human tissues and organs. The information that can be obtained through the use of these technologies ultimately will help provide important links between genomics and the manifestation of human disorders and disease, enable treatment regimens to be monitored for success within days after initiation, and will help facilitate personalized medicine on the basis of the specific biological manifestation of disease within individual patients.

The Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences has been created to foster the development, testing, and translation of modern biomedical imaging technologies and methodologies into clinical care in order to advance our ability to care for patients. Through the many pages of our web site you can learn about the exciting research being performed by our scientific members. You will also find links to educational information for both the public and research scientists. I would like to thank you for visiting our web site and hope that you find the information and contact links helpful as you explore the capabilities and opportunities of modern biomedical imaging.
